Egypt Shares Open Higher, Gain EGP696 million on Thursday

Egypt’s bourse opened higher on Thursday with gains worth 696 million Egyptian pounds amid early foreign buying deals. In return, Egypt’s main index – EGX 30 also rallies to hit 7581 points at early trading.

The Egyptian Exchange’s indices were wavering in green notes during the opening session.

Indices

The Benchmark EGX30 rose by 0.14% to 7581.64 p; while EGX20 fell by 0.06% to 8985.49 p.

Additionally, the mid- and small-cap index, the EGX70 hiked by 0.76% to 638.68 p.  Price index EGX100 increased by 0.64% to 1086.13 p.

Furthermore, market capitalization reached EGP 469.406 billion, according to data compiled by Amwal Al Ghad English at 11:17 a.m. Cairo time (09:17 GMT).

Turnovers & Trading Volumes

The trading volume has recorded 23.719 million securities, with turnovers reached EGP 100.747 million, exchanged through 4064 transactions during Thursday opening.

Also during the opening session, 125 listed securities have been traded in; 41 fell, 47 advanced; while 37 keeping their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Arab and the non-Arab foreigner investors were net buyers on Thursday seizing 5.75% and 7.37% respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 113.255 thousand and EGP 3.090 million respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, Egyptian investors were net sellers acquiring 86.88% of the total market, with a net equity of EGP 3.203 million, excluding the deals.
