Egypt stocks end 0.7% higher Monday

Egyptian stock market climbed Monday on Arab investors are back to buying appetite.

Main index, EGX30 rose 0.73 percent, to 7974.12 points. as two-thirds of the most valuable stocks advanced.

Shares favoured by foreign funds were some of the top performers,with Global Telecom Holding (GTHE.CA) jumping 4.0 percent.

Other indices; EGX50 EWI index also rose 0.54 percent, to 1346.2 points; EGX20 edged up 0.79 percent, to 7979.95 points.

Mid- and small-cap index EGX70 fell 0.05 percent, to 351.27 points. Price index, EGX100 added 0.15 percent, to 801.13 points.

Market Cap

Market capitalisation gained 750 million Egyptian pounds ($84.5 million), to record 410.375 billion pounds during the closing session of Monday.

Turnovers

The bourse’s trading volume reached 128.338 million securities, with turnovers, closing at 541.872 million pounds, exchanged through 14,210 transactions.

Also during the closing session, 160 listed securities have been traded in, 56 declined, 60 advanced; while 42 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Arab investors were net buyers capturing 9.77 percent of the total market, with a net equity of 33.726 million pounds, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, local and non-Arab foreign investors were net sellers controlling 78.5 and 11.73 percent respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 16.356 million pounds and 17.369 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.
