Egypt Stocks mostly Higher on Monday with $178m gains

Egypt’s stock market edged higher on Monday with gains estimated at 1.4  billion Egyptian pounds (US$178.8 million) on Egyptian buying appetite .

The market capitalisation has recorded 419.269 billion pounds during the closing session of Monday.

Indices

Egypt’s benchmark index, EGX30 dropped by 0.64 percent to 6480.65 points.

The newly-launched EGX50 EWI index went up by 0.44 percent to 1102.3 points.

EGX20 increased by 0.52 percent to 6247.29 points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 surged by 0.33 percent to 350.53 points. The price index, EGX100 declined by 0.05 percent 760.75 points.

Turnovers high

On Monday, the bourse’s trading volume has hit 398.840 million securities, with turnovers closed at EGP 1.251 billion, exchanged through 19,405 thousand transactions.

Also during the closing session, 166 listed securities have been traded in; 46 declined, 75 advanced; while 38 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Arab and foreign investors were net sellers on Monday getting  4.76 % and 24.13 % respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 71.113 million and EGP 247.256 million, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, the local investors were net buyers seizing 71.11 %of the total market, with a net equity of EGP 318.370 million, excluding the deals.
