Egypt: Stocks Opened Mixed, EGX 30 Fell to 5380 pts

Egypt’s stock market has opened lower on Wednesday incurring early losses of EGP 439 million. The benchmark dropped to 5380 pts.

For the EGX indices, they were wavering in mixed notes during the opening session of Wednesday.

Benchmark EGX30 went down by 0.12% to 5380.06 p; while EGX20 fell by 0.16% to 6255.9 p.

On the other hand, the mid- and small-cap index, the EGX70 rose by 0.11% to 435.21 p.  Price index EGX100 increased by 0.06% to 739.6 p.

The capital market has reached EGP 355.974 billion during the opening session of Wednesday, according to data compiled by Amwal Al Ghad English at 11:08 a.m. Cairo time (09:08 GMT).

Trading Volumes & Values

The trading volume has recorded 10.697 million securities worth EGP 25.865 million, exchanged through 1620 transactions during Wednesday opening.

Also during the opening session, 90 listed securities have been traded in; 38 fell, 19 advanced; while 33 keeping their previous levels.

Investors’ Activity

Arabs were net sellers seizing 1.88% of the total market, with a net equity of EGP 523.577 thousand, excluding the deals.

Meanwhile, Egyptians and the non-Arab foreigners were net buyers seizing 88.11% and 10.01% respectively, of the total market, with net equities of EGP 388.236 thousand and EGP 135.342 thousand, excluding the deals.
