Egypt to get 20 GE locomotives next April

Egypt will receive 20 new multi-use locomotives from General Electric Co within next April.

The U.S. 128-year-old conglomerate has completed manufacturing 60 locomotives for the Egyptian Railway Authority (ERA) and will set a timeframe to import the shipments, Ministry of Transport said in a statement on Wednesday.

In June 2017, Egypt signed a $575 million agreement with General Electric to provide 100 multi-use locomotives, 15-year technical support and spare parts along with maintenance and upgrade of 81 trains.
