Egypt to increase minimum wages to $113 per month from January

Egypt’s government will increase the minimum wage to 3500 ($113) Egyptian pounds a month paid by the private sector, according to a statement in the official gazette on Monday.

Previously, the government raised the minimum wage to 3000 pounds on the first of July.

Over the previous two years, headline inflation in Egypt has increased significantly, hitting a record 38 percent in September before falling to 35.6 percent in November.
