Egypt to replace 28K gov’t payroll cards with Meeza in October

Egypt will issue 28,000 national e-payment Meeza cards for state employees to receive their salaries in October, the Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait, said.

Meeza cards can be used for cash withdrawals from ATMs, online purchases, electronic government payments, and PoS machines, Maait added in a statement on Tuesday.

This is part of the second pilot phase, targeting Matrouh, Port Said, Red Sea, South Sinai, Alexandria, Luxor, Dakahlia, Assiut, Gharbiya, and Fayoum.

The finance ministry aims to replace 5 million payroll cards for state employees with Meeza cards.
