Egypt-US trade rises 26.4% in 2018

The volume of trade exchange between Egypt and United States increased 26.4 percent to $7.117 billion during 2018 from $5.235 billion pounds during 2017.

Egypt seized 6.5 percent out of the total value of foreign trade during 2018.

Last December, trade between the two countries grew 33.6 percent to $662.111 million against $439.708 million during the same month in 2017, Egypt’s state-run statics agency CAPMAS announced in its bulletin on Wednesday.

“U.S. is in the third position to be one of the biggest countries importing from Egypt last year,” CAPMAS said, adding that U.S. captured 5.9 percent of the Egyptian exports.

United States’ imports went up by 25.7 percent to around $1.717 billion last year, compared with $1.366 billion a year earlier.

“U.S. captures 6.7 percent of the Egyptian imports,” the agency said.

U.S. ranked the third in terms of being one of the biggest states exporting to Egypt during 2018, capturing 6.7 percent of the Egyptian imports.

United States’ exports to Egypt reached around $5.4 billion versus $3.868 billion, marking a 39.6 percent surge.
