EgyptAir to operate 19 additional flights to take fans to Russia for 2018 World Cup

EgyptAir chairman Safwat Musalam has said that the airline will be operating 19 additional flights, aside from three scheduled weekly flights, to take Egyptian football fans to Russia for the 2018 World Cup, according to the state-owned MENA news agency.

The flights are expected to transport some 3,000 fans travelling to attend the World Cup, which will start next week.

The additional flights are set to start on 10 June and conclude their trips on 28 June.

According to Musalam, the flights are scheduled to land in the following Russian airports; Grozny International Airport, Koltsovo International Airport, Pulkovo International Airport, Volgograd International Airport, and Domodedovo International Airport.

The three weekly flights are scheduled to fly from Cairo international airport to Moscow International Airport on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Egypt has qualified to play in the World Cup for the first time since 1990.

The Egyptian team will kick-off their Group A games against Uruguay on 15 June, four days before facing hosts Russia and then ending the group stage against Saudi Arabia on 25 June.
