Egyptian Agriculture produces 148,000 tons of seeds for the first time

Egypt had produced 148,000 tons of seeds for the first time in its history cultivating an area of 2.5 million feddans, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Al-Sayed el-Quseir announced on Monday.

el-Quseir assured on the importance to expand contract farming to encourage farmers to supply their crops and plant strategic crops, especially wheat.

The minister directed to provide all aspects of support to farmers with the expansion of the establishment of extension fields to be role models.

He also aims to provide intensification of extension mechanisms and the use of modern mechanization in agriculture and harvesting.

In addition to that he stressed on increasing the percentage of coverage for the approved seeds of strategic crops, which contributes to raise the productivity of the feddan.

The announcement came during a meeting held with the leaders of the ministry to set a vision for strategic crops during the new season.
