Egyptian Banks’ Deposits Rose EGP 2.8 Bln In July 2012

The volume of deposits held by the Egyptian banking sector, other than the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), witnessed an increase of EGP 2.8 billion (0.2%), registering EGP 1.029 trillion last July, up from EGP 1.026 trillion in June, 2012.

Government deposits retreated by EGP 1.6 billion, declining from EGP 118.6 billion in June, to EGP 117 billion at the end of July; of which local-currency deposits accounted for EGP 63.1 billion and foreign-currency deposits reached  EGP 53.8 billion.

Non-government deposits registered an increase of EGP 3.5 billion, increasing from EGP 908 billion in June, to EGP 912.5 billion in July; of which local-currency deposits accounted for EGP 722.4 billion and foreign-currency deposits reached EGP 190.1 billion.
