Egyptian Bourse Celebrates New Year, Gains EGP 8.7 Bln; Closing

Celebrating the new year, the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) has extended its gains to eventually reach EGP 8.7 billion during Wednesday’s closing session. The capital market has jumped to EGP 384.382 billion.

The EGX indices flourished closing in green.

The main index, EGX30 soared by 3.15% to end at 5634.55 p. EGX20 jumped by 3.15% to close at 6541.64 p.

Meanwhile, the mid- and small-cap index, the EGX70 pushed up by 3.02% to conclude at 491.5 pts.  Price index EGX100 surged by 2.89% to finish at 823.45 p.

During Wednesday’s closing, the trading volume has reached 205.836 million securities worth EGP 543.831 million, exchanged 28.689  thousand transactions.

This was after trading in 172 listed securities; 5 declined, 147 advanced; while 20 keeping their previous levels.

The non-Arab foreigners and Arabs’ buying  transactions have backed EGX’s gains on Wednesday as they were net buyers seizing 8.42% and 10.7% respectively, of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 12.859 million and EGP 23.711 million excluding the deals.

On the other hand, Egyptians were net sellers seizing 80.88% of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 36.571 million excluding the deals.
