Cairo bourse ends up with $472mn gains

Egyptian exchange concluded higher on Monday posting gains worth 3.7 billion Egyptian pounds (US$ 472.1 million).

The market capitalisation hit 457.870 billion pounds during the closing session of Monday.

Indices

Egypt’s benchmark index, EGX30 rose by 1.36 percent to 7650.65 points.

The newly-launched EGX50 EWI index went higher by 1.95 percent to 1280.21 points.

EGX20 surged by 2.50 percent to 7361.29 points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 pushed higher by 0.01 percent to 401.03 points. The price index, EGX100 boosted by 0.48 percent to 860.25 points.

Turnovers up

On Monday, the bourse’s trading volume has hit 409.725 million securities, with turnovers closed at EGP 1.471 billion, exchanged through 31,094 thousand transactions.

Also during the closing session, 170 listed securities have been traded in; 28 declined, 113 advanced; while 29 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Arab and foreign investors were net sellers on Monday getting 5.32% and 8.39% respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 44.168 million and EGP 16.560 million, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, the local investors were net buyers capturing 86.29% of the total market, with a net equity of EGP 60.729 million, excluding the deals.
