Egyptian Consulate In Jeddah Ends 4ooo Egyptian Workers Sit-in

On Wednesday, the Egyptian Consulate in Jeddah terminated the sit-in of 4000 Egyptian seasonal workers in Jeddah airport. The sit-in came after a Saudi citizen had slapped an Egyptian worker; resulting in clashes between Egyptians and Saudi security.

Egyptian Consul General in Jeddah Adel El-Alfy has received a complaint over the incident and the Egyptian workers’ resentment. The consul immediately sent a consular team, headed by Consul Mohamed Al Sherif, to take control of the situation. The team had phone calls with the officials in the airport and security leaders ended by apologizing for the Egyptian workers and releasing four Egyptians who were detained by the Saudi security.
