Egyptian Cotton Exports Attained EGP218 mln In January

Egypt’s export of cotton recorded EGP 218 million in January, following its total exports in 2012 achieved EGP 2 billion; according to the Foreign Trade sector.

Reliable sources in the sector told “Amwal Al Ghad” that the exports of cotton in January 2013 bolstered the textile exports to achieved EGP 427 million at the same month, rose by 24%, in return for EGP 344 million in 2012.

The exports of special fabrics and textile reached EGP 70 million, and the exports of the synthetic fibers achieved EGP 72 million in January.

The sources said the increase of export rates at the beginning of 2013 is due to the relative decline of domestic demand on the ready-made garments industry, in addition to the sit-ins that factories witnessed in the past period.
