EGX Loses EGP 1.4 Bln, EFG-Hermes 1.90% Down; Monday Opening

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) had on early Monday posted losses of EGP 1.37 billion  as the capital market has reached EGP 323.345 billion according to data compiled by Amwal Al Ghad at 9:22 GMT (11:22 local time).

The main index, EGX30 shed 0.51% to hit 4449.13 p.  EGX20 dived 1.01% to reach 4999.5 p.

Meanwhile, the mid- and small-cap index, the EGX70 went down 0.20% to hit 396.54 p. Price index EGX100 edged down 0.60% to reach 692.43 p.

Traded volume reached 3.554 million securities worth EGP 12.780 million, exchanged through 1.148 thousand transactions.

This was after trading in 78 listed securities; 50 declined and 14 advanced while 14 keeping their previous levels.

Arabs and non-Arab Foreigners were net sellers seizing 6.35% and 20.96% respectively, of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 166.958 thousand and EGP 1.388 million excluding the deals.

On the other hand, Egyptians were net buyers seizing 72.69% of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 1.555 million excluding the deals.

EGX’s leading shares witnessed unsteady performance. Shares of EFG-Hermes Holding (HRHO.CA) led EGX’s early downwards by sinking 1.90% reaching EGP 10.34. Shares of Orascom Telecom Media & Technology Holding (OTMT.CA) also edged down 0.82% reaching EGP 1.21. Shares of Commercial International Bank- Egypt (COMI.CA) went down 0.45% hitting EGP 24.11.

On the other hand, shares owned by Orascom Telecom Holding (OTH) (ORTE.CA) solely inched higher 0.34% reaching EGP 2.93. Shares of Orascom Construction Industries (OCIC.CA) remained flat hitting EGP 247.99.
