Egyptian FM: Palestinian rights must be respected, no to displacement or transfer

Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr Badr Abdel Aty stressed the importance of preserving the rights of the Palestinian people, who are determined to remain on their land and reject any displacement or transfer beyond it. He emphasised the necessity of respecting their resilience and their right to self-determination, as per a Foreign Ministry statement on Wednesday.
This came during a phone call on Tuesday evening, with his US counterpart, Mr Marco Rubio. The two ministers discussed the close strategic partnership between their countries and their shared desire to advance bilateral cooperation across various fields, contributing to strengthening the partnership and enhancing efforts to address multiple regional challenges.
The two ministers reviewed developments in implementing the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. Minister Abdel Aty underlined the importance of all parties to the agreement adhering to its three-phase implementation, facilitating the exchange of hostages and prisoners, enabling the Palestinian people to return to their homes, and ensuring the sustainable delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. He stressed that these steps are fundamental to restoring calm and stability and shaping a political horizon that contributes to ending the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the two-state solution and in accordance with international legitimacy.
