Egypt Telecom Minister Says Broadband Ventures to Launch by Mid-September

Eng. Atef Helmy, Egyptian Minister of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), said in his official page on Facebook , ICT projects are still ongoing.

The Minister has emphasized that the Ministry will launch high-speed internet projects ‘broadband’ with EGP 16.8 billion investment  in the mid of coming September, pointing out that the current project is based on the joint between the government representing in the ICT Ministry which will bear EGP 3billion from the total investment and ICT enterprises

Helmy has asserted that the users of broadband in Egypt increased, asserting that each 10% penetration will reflect on the total Gross National Product (GNP) with rate ranging between 1.2%-1.5%.

Helmy has demanded from Mobile phone and internet operators to exploit the opportunity and to invest in this promising sector which will help to attract foreign investments.
