Egyptian Police Kill Two Attackers Trying to Kill Minister

Egyptian police killed two attackers who were trying to assassinate the interior minister in Cairo on Thursday, security officials said.

Security sources had earlier said his convoy had been targeted by a bomb, but that the minister was unhurt.

A bomb detonated near the convoy of Egypt’s Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim in northeast Cairo early on Thursday.

The explosion took place near the minister’s residence in the capital’s Nasr City district.

At least seven, including a child, were injured in the attack, according to Egypt’ Ambulance Authority.
