Egyptian steel tycoon says ready to rebuild flood-stricken village in 50 days

Egyptian steel tycoon and CEO of Egypt Steel Ahmed Abu Hashima said Monday he is ready to rebuild Ofouna Village in Beheira governorate in 50 days.

In a phone interview with Al-Qahera Al-Youm (Cairo Today) TV show Monday, Abu Hashima said he had provided urgent assistance aids to the village in cooperation with Orman Charity Association and other NGOs.

Heavy rainfall and floods hit the Egyptian village last week, accompanied by lightning and thunder and strong winds.

The death toll in the flood-stricken Ofouna Village, Beheria, rose to ten last Thursday after two more dead bodies were found, according to Undersecretary of the Health Ministry Alaa Othman. One of the bodies is a 14-month old infant.

Meanwhile, Abou Hashima added that he would build, with the help of the village residents, new homes able to mitigate the impact of any future natural disasters.
