Egyptian stock market ends week 0.53% up, gains $132mn

Egyptian stock market finished the week higher with gains estimated at 1.18 billion Egyptian pounds (US$132.8 million) on local and foreign selling appetite.

The market capitalisation reached 407.481 billion pounds during the closing session of Thursday.

Indices

Egypt’s benchmark index, EGX30 boosted 0.53 percent to 7524.94 points.

The EGX50 EWI index jumped by 1.01 percent to 1426.72 points.

EGX20 rose by 0.63 percent to 8102.4 points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 increased by 0.13 percent to 367.25 points. The price index, EGX100 hiked by 0.34 percent to 792.19 points.

 

Turnovers up

On Thursday , the bourse’s trading volume has reached 462.838 million securities, with turnovers closed at 1.316 billion pounds, exchanged through 36,249 thousand transactions.

Also during the closing session, 188 listed securities have been traded in; 58 declined, 82 advanced; while 39 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Local and foreign investors were net buyers on Thursday capturing 78.76% and 9.88% respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 141.123 million pounds and 6.942 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, Arab investors were net sellers getting 11.37% of the total market, with a net equity of 148.065 million pounds, excluding the deals.
