Egyptian stocks close 0.4% higher

Egypt’s stock market surged Tuesday as local investors continued to buy. Main index, EGX30 gained 0.41 percent, to 6931.94 points.

During Ramadan, the trading sessions start at 10 a.m. Cairo Local Time (8:00 GMT) and end at 1:30 p.m. (11:30 GMT), reducing trading hours by one hour.

Other indices; EGX50 EWI index climbed 1.38 percent, to 1244.93 points; while EGX20 hiked 0.79 percent, to 6981.29 points.

Mid- and small-cap index EGX70 traded 1.01 percent higher, to 345.26 points. Price index, EGX100 rose 0.91 percent, to 733.67 points.

Market Caps

Market capitalisation posted gains worth 2.2 billion Egyptian pounds ($247.8 million), to record 378.806 billion pounds during the closing session of Tuesday.

Turnovers

The bourse’s trading volume reached 99.245 million securities, with turnovers, closing at 397.953 million pounds, exchanged through 13,675 transactions.

Also during the closing session, 152 listed securities have been traded in, 19 declined, 94 advanced; while 33 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Local investors remained net buyers capturing 76.29 percent of the total market, with a net equity of 15.174 million pounds, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, non-Arab foreign and Arab investors were net sellers controlling 18.38 and 5.34 percent respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 9.563 million pounds and 5.610 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.
