Egyptian Stocks end bearish with $740mn losses

Egypt’s bourse incurred losses worth 5.8 billion Egyptian pounds (US$740.5million).

The market capitalisation has recorded 443.928 billion pounds during the closing session of Monday.

Indices

Egypt’s benchmark index, EGX30 dropped by 1.48 percent to 7166.62 points.

The newly-launched EGX50 EWI index inched down 1.91 percent to 1213.56 points.

EGX20 sagged by 2.20 percent to 6908.28 points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 slid by 0.90 percent to 387.63 points. The price index, EGX100 declined by 1.06 percent to 833.38 points.

Turnovers up

On Monday, the bourse’s trading volume has reached 203.514 million securities, with turnovers closed at EGP 1.69 billion, exchanged through 21,360 thousand transactions.

Also during the closing session, 175 listed securities have been traded in; 115 declined, 31 advanced; while 29 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Local and Arab investors were net sellers on Monday seizing 94.52% and 2.18% respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 5.741 million and EGP 3.425 million, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, the non-Arab investors were net buyers getting 3.3% of the total market, with a net equity of EGP 9.166 million, excluding the deals.
