Egypt’s 6th edition of CWW focuses on climate change

Egypt’s Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources announced on Tuesday the details of the sixth edition of Cairo Water Week (CWW), which will have the links between water and climate change as its main focus.

CWW is scheduled to take place between 29 October and 2 November, under the theme Action on Adaptation in the Water Sector for Sustainability.

Irrigation Minister Hani Sewilam stated this year’s edition aims to “encourage the use of modern technology and innovation to tackle water challenges.”

Sewilam added managing water resources efficiently is one of the event’s objectives. This is critical, especially given the country’s situation of water scarcity.

It is expected several international delegations are to attend the event, alongside representatives from international and regional organisations.

The event will incorporate workshops, technical sessions, together with many competitions such as the Young Innovators in the Water competition.

It is worth mentioning that CWW’s recommendations and outcomes will be presented at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai, scheduled at 30 November.
