Egypt’s agricultural exports surge to $3.6b

Egypt’s agricultural exports surged to 6.1 million tons, worth approximately $3.6 billion from January 1st to September 4. This marks a substantial increase of over $800 million and 400,000 tons compared to the same period last year.

Mohamed El-Mansy, Head of Agricultural Quarantine, reported these figures, highlighting significant contributions across various sectors. Citrus fruits led the exports with 2,155,486 tons. Fresh potatoes followed with 962,618 tons, securing the second position, while onions ranked third with 251,338 tons.

Beans, including both fresh and dry varieties, took the fourth spot with 175,479 tons. Grapes came fifth with 171,081 tons. Sweet potatoes occupied the sixth position with 107,634 tons, and mangoes were seventh with 55,792 tons. Tomatoes, pomegranates, garlic, strawberries, and guavas also made notable contributions, with exports totaling 36,995 tons, 26,463 tons, 22,587 tons, 21,295 tons, and 10,813 tons, respectively.
