Egypt’s airports security plan phase I costs $42M: Minister

The Egyptian civil aviation ministry have a three-phase plan to renew and replace security devices and equipment in all Egyptian airports.

Minister Sharif Fathy stated Monday that the security devices of plan’s first phase are estimated at US$42 million.

During the 3rd Akhbar El Youm Economic Forum, the minister clarified that the plan includes replacing existent devices with  X-ray inspection systems.

The ministry started executing the first phase of the plan through replacing and renewing devices in Cairo International Airport.

Moreover, Fathy noted that Germany is set to supply Egypt with 44 out of 87 X-ray inspection devices within 60 days to be installed in Cairo Airport.
