Egypt’s Alexandria Port signs MoU with Montenegro Ports

Egypt’s Alexandria Port Authority and the Montenegro Ports Authority signed on Monday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in maritime transport and logistics. The deal was signed on the sidelines of Montenegro President Jakov Milatović’s official visit to Cairo.

The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation in port management and operations, exchange of expertise, digital transformation, capacity building, and environmental sustainability. It also includes studying opportunities to enhance maritime connectivity between the ports of both countries to support supply chains and boost trade and investment.

The agreement comes as Egypt continues to modernise its ports through upgrades to infrastructure, superstructure, and logistics services, supporting its goal of becoming a regional hub for transport, logistics, and transit trade while expanding cooperation with international partners.

Both sides said the strategic locations of Egypt and Montenegro on the Mediterranean and Adriatic seas provide opportunities to strengthen maritime and logistics connectivity between European markets and the Middle East and North Africa region.

The Alexandria Port Authority said the MoU reflects its commitment to expanding partnerships with international ports and maritime authorities to promote the exchange of expertise, technology transfer, and operational efficiency, in line with the Ministry of Transport’s strategy to enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian ports.
