Egypt’s Army sent Humanitarian Aid to Syrian Refugees

The Egyptian military sent a humanitarian aid shipment to Syrian refugees in Lebanon on Tuesday, and another two shipments to arrive within the next two days.

The three shipments consist of a total of 18.5 tons of food, 100 tents, 2,500 blankets, 1.2 tons of medical supplies and 2,500 pieces of clothing, MENA reported.

The Lebanese ministry of social affairs will be responsible for distributing the aid to Syrian refugees living in the Lebanese town of Arsal.

Egypt has been advocating for a political solution in war-torn Syria.

In a meeting with Lebanese politician Saad Hariri last month in Cairo, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi stressed the importance of protecting the Syrian nation without aligning with any party.

With more than 1.1 million Syrian refugees registered with UNHCR in Lebanon, one in four people in the country is a refugee.

Egypt also hosts a population of Syrian refugees, around 140,000 of whom are registered with UNHCR.
