Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh Hefni discussed the potential for increased private sector involvement in managing Egyptian airports, according to Egyptian Cabinet statement on Tuesday.
During a session of the Egyptian Senate, the minister referenced successful partnerships, such as Marsa Alam Airport, and noted that the ministry is exploring opportunities to enhance airport management efficiency and service quality through strategic collaborations.
Minister Hefni also outlined the ministry’s strategy for advancing Egypt’s aviation sector, aligning with the government’s economic reforms and Vision 2030 for sustainable development. He emphasised the importance of providing incentive programmes for chartered flights as a key approach to boosting tourism and supporting related sectors, and strengthening the local economy and creating new job opportunities.
The minister further highlighted the need to improve the efficiency of national airlines to maintain competitiveness on both regional and global levels. He reviewed efforts to expand Cairo International Airport’s capacity and modernise radar networks, positioning Egypt’s aviation sector as a vital driver of economic growth and global connectivity.
