The encouraging climate for entrepreneurship ecosystem has driven Egyptian real estate developer Tatweer Misr to establish the first of its kind university for entrepreneurs in the Middle East, its chief executive Ahmed Shalaby said on Wednesday.

Speaking at the International Council for Small Business’ (ICSB) World Congress taking place in Cairo between June 18th – June 21st, Shalaby said discussing Entrepreneurial Cities, under the name of College Town, is built on area of 100 feddans, in cooperation with the International Council for Small Business (ICSB).

The Egyptian College Town is part of ICSB’s plans to launch three universities for entrepreneurs across the world, Shalaby said.

The university will be the first to provide premier educational institution of its kind in innovation, entrepreneurship education, and SME development across six main schools,  the ICSB Board Member added.

The hub will host several technology labs, state-of-the-art workstations, co-working space, think tanks, a gym, lounges, boardrooms, training rooms, and an atrium.

Tatweer Misr is currently building three international schools within its real estate flagships, he further noted.

In 2018, The real estate developer  has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Global Entrepreneurship (GEN) to develop an entrepreneurship hub in Tatweer Misr’s Bloomfields. The hub is dubbed GEN@Bloomfields.

He added that GEN@Bloomfields  requires funds of 5 billion Egyptian pounds ($300.1 million) which will be paid before receiving any returns from the project, noting that entrepreneurship is in need of more encouragement and support from the Egyptian government.

Founded in 1955, the ICSB is a non-profit organisation devoted to continuing management education for entrepreneurs and small business. It was the first international membership organisation to promote the growth and development of small businesses worldwide. The organisation brings together educators, researchers, policy-makers and practitioners from around the world to share knowledge and expertise in their respective fields through publications, programs, workshops, training sessions and certifications.
