Cairo bourse starts week in red notes with $26 mn losses

Egypt’s bourse fell slightly Sunday with losses worth 205 million Egyptian pounds (US$ 26 million) despite local buying appetites.

Market capitalisation has reached 391.121 billion pounds during the closing session of Sunday.

Indices

Egypt’s benchmark index, EGX30 rose 0.10 percent to 5992.72 points.

EGX50 EWI index went down 0.19  percent to 1096.95  points.

EGX20 decreased 0.58 percent to 6054.3 points.

On the other hand, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 grew 0.15 percent to 356.39 points. The price index, EGX100 hiked by 0.10 percent 715.62 points.

Turnovers weak

On Sunday, the bourse’s trading volume hit 239.437  million securities, with turnovers closed at 1.064 billion pounds, exchanged through 23,772  transactions.

Also during the closing session, 149  listed securities have been traded in; 72 declined, 46 advanced; while 27  kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Arab and foreign investors were net sellers Sunday getting  4.55  percent and 7.85 percent respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 38.404  million pounds and 7.941 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, local investors were net buyers seizing 87.6 percent of the total market, with a net equity of 46.345 million pounds, excluding the deals.
