Egypt’s EMC wins $18.6 mln Eni contract for Iraq’s Zubair field

Egypt’s Misr Maintenance Company (EMC) has won an international tender worth about $18.6 million from Italy’s Eni to supply electrical equipment to Iraq’s Zubair Field, the Egyptian Petroleum Ministry said on Wednesday.

The three-year contract covers electrical equipment and components for production units and power stations at the Zubair Field in Basra, including medium- and low-voltage equipment, distribution panels, and motor control centres, the ministry said in a statement.

EMC won the tender after competing against international companies, according to the statement.

The company will use Egyptian workers and technical expertise to carry out the contract, the ministry said.

The award expands EMC’s overseas operations as Egypt seeks to increase the international business of state-owned petroleum companies and export Egyptian technical expertise to regional markets.

The ministry said the contract reflected EMC’s capabilities in specialised maintenance and energy projects and its ability to execute large-scale projects.

EMC is an affiliate of Egypt’s petroleum sector and provides maintenance and engineering services for oil, gas and energy projects.
