Egypt’s expats remittances double in June – CBE

Egypt’s remittances from its abroad workers increased in June 2024 for the fourth consecutive month, rising by 65.9 per cent to approximately 2.6 billion USD (compared to about 1.5 billion USD in June 2023).

This represents more than a doubling of the amount compared to before the reform measures implemented on March 6, 2024, when remittances were limited to about 1.3 billion USD in February 2024.

Additionally, remittances for the April to June 2024 period saw a 61.4 per cent increase, reaching about 7.5 billion USD (compared to approximately 4.6 billion USD in the corresponding period).
