Egypt’s exports of glass products hit $68mn in 6 months

Egyptian exports of glass products recorded 605.6 million pounds (US$68 million) during the first half of 2016 versus 525.2 million pounds a year earlier, marking a 15 percent increase.

The latest report released by the Egyptian Chemical Export Council (CEC) showed that glass products captured 4.8 percent of total chemicals exports during January-June 2016.

In June, glass products exports witnessed a large growth since they reached 101.4 million pounds opposed to 71.3 million in June 2015, registering a 129.6 percent growth. Accordingly, glass products exports seized 4.5 percent of total chemicals products exports in June 2016.

According to the report, exports of glass products rose during the first quarter of 2016 by 17 percent to 290.9 million pounds compared to 248.6 million at the same quarter of 2015.

During the second quarter of 2016, the exports of glass products hiked by 13.8 percent to around 314.7 million pounds versus 276.6 million during the second quarter of 2015.
