Egypt’s exports of medical industries fall 12.7% in H1 – report

Egypt’s exports of medical and pharmaceutical industries dropped 12.7 percent to $233 million during the first half of this year from $267 million last year, according to a report.

Last June, the exports grew 2.2 percent to $46 million against $45 million during the month of 2019, the Egyptian Export Council of Medical and Pharmaceutical Industries said in its monthly report on Monday.

Egypt’s first-quarter medical exports fell 10.2 percent to $123 million, compared with $137 million during the same quarter last year, the report added.

“Medical exports also declined 15.4 percent to $110 million during the second quarter of 2020 versus $130 million during the same period last year,” the report said.

During the first six months of the current year, medical exports decreased 23.3 percent to $79 million from $103 million during the same period in 2019.

“Last June, these exports were down by 6.7 percent to $15 million, compared to $18 million during the same month in 2019,” the report added.
