Egypt’s external debt hits record high at end-June – c.bank

Egypt’s external debt hit a record of US$48.062 billion by the end of June 2015, the central bank said Monday.

On comparison, the country recorded external debt of US$39.853 billion by the end of March 2015.

A main factor in this record increase was the arrival of US$6bn in Gulf deposits from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the UAE last May.
