Egypt’s FM Heads for Arab-Russian Forum in Khartoum Tomorrow

Egyptian foreign minister Sameh Shoukry is heading early Wednesday to Khartoum for an Arab-Russian forum in the Sudanese capital.

The second round of the two-day Arab-Russian Co-operation Forum is scheduled to begin on 2 December, where foreign ministers of Arab countries, Russia and the secretary-general of the Arab League (AL) are expected to take part.

The first session of the forum was held in early 2013 in Moscow.

The meeting this year is aimed at addressing ties between Arab countries and Russia as well as recent developments in the region, namely in Syria and Libya, where militia violence has reigned.

During the visit, Shoukry is due to take part in talks with Libya’s neighbours as well as hold a series of meetings with high-level Sudanese government officials to prepare for talks of a joint presidential committee on political and economic issues.
