Egypt’s GASC contracts to purchase 60K tons of Romanian wheat

Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) has awarded one of Romania’s leading wheat exporters Agro Chirnogi a tender to purchase 60,000 tons of wheat, according to Agricensus citing an official note on Tuesday.

This comes within the framework of the Ministry of Supply’s strategy to enhance its stocks of basic commodities, said GASC in a statement, noting that the shipping period is expected to be from October 5 to October 20, 2023.

It is worth mentioning that the country is expected to import 12 million tons of wheat during the current FY 2023/24, which started on 1 July, according to a report by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) released in July.
