Egypt’s ICT Ministry: 3.7% Decline In Mobile Penetration March-End

An official source of the Information and Communication Technology Ministry (MCIT) has revealed the decline of mobile phone penetration with rate 3.74% within the first quarter of 2013 compared to the last quarter of 2013.

The report has emphasized that mobile phone subscribers reached around 94 million subscribers with penetration rate amounted to 113.2%, noting that the number of fixed mobile phone subscribers in Egypt reached 8.63 million users.

The report has asserted that the number of internet users in Egypt reached 33.3 million subscribers with penetration rate around 40%, so the number of internet connectors reached 2.4 million.

The report has noted that the prices of fixed phone services reached around $ 2.5, 2.07 for mobile phone services and $ 3.71 for internet according to the World Bank standards for the pricing of mobile and internet services.

Moreover, the companies which operating in ICT sector are about 5243 companies and the number of technology clubs are about 95 headquarters.
