Egypt’s Kandil Sentenced one Year on Not Implementing Judicial Decision

Al-Dokki Misdemeanor Court headed by Judge Mohamed Al Sawy, ordered to jail Dr Hesham Kandil, Egyptian Prime Minister, for one year and fined him for EGP 2000. The verdict was returned over the case of “Tanta Flax”, whereas Kandil refused to implement the decision of returning the privatized company to the state.

The suit’s legal reason is that Dr Hesham Kandil declined to carry out a verdict that returned by Egypt’s Administrative Judicial Court. The verdicts provides for returning Tanta Flax & Oil Company to the state and annulling the selling contract to the Saudi businessman Abdallah Al Kaaky.

It is worth mentioning that in 2005, Tanta Flax & Oil Company was privatized for a sum that was less than its total value, resulting in retiring hundreds of workers, and depriving some workers of annual bonuses that they received when the factory was under the state ownership.
