Egypt’s market regulator witnesses training deals to boost sector skills

Egypt’s Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) said on Wednesday it witnessed the signing of a series of cooperation protocols aimed at developing human capital in the non-banking financial sector.

The agreements were concluded between the Financial Services Institute and federations representing mortgage finance, leasing, consumer finance, and factoring, the FRA said.

The initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen the sector by improving workforce capabilities, enhancing institutional efficiency, and supporting market stability, in line with rapid changes in financial markets.

FRA Chairman Islam Azzam said the authority continues to invest in human capital as a key driver of growth in the non-banking financial sector, particularly amid the expansion of financial technology.

He said workforce development is now a necessity rather than an option, adding that training programmes are being expanded and more closely aligned with market needs.

The FRA said it is working with local and international partners to build integrated training frameworks aimed at improving governance standards, boosting investor confidence and supporting regulatory development.

The protocols also allow experienced industry professionals to be accredited as trainers following a technical evaluation, and include flexible training plans with updated content tailored to market needs.

Tarek Saif, executive director of the Financial Services Institute, said the agreements aim to bridge the gap between academic training and practical application by involving industry experts in the training system.

He added that the institute is developing programmes to transfer practical expertise to trainees and improve workforce readiness across the sector.

The regulator said the expanded training framework supports financial inclusion and improves access to financial services, while enhancing competitiveness locally and internationally.
