Egypt’s monorail begins trial operation ahead of COP27 – ministry

Egypt’s Ministry of Transport intends to start the trial operation for monorail trains from the maintenance workshop to El-Adala station in New Administrative Capital (NAC) in preparation for COP27 will be held next month in Sharm El Sheikh.

Minister Kamel El-Wazir has followed up the progress of the project’s implementation, which extends from the stadium station in Nasr City to NAC with a length of 56.5 km and includes 22 stations, according to ministry’s statement on Wednesday.

The construction works and installation of beams are currently being implemented in the tracks, stations, and diversions, according to El-Wazir.

El-Wazir has directed all project workers to work around the clock to complete the implementation of the project in accordance with the specified timetable.

The project is being implemented through an alliance of Alstom, Orascom, and Arab Contractors companies led by the French company Alstom.
