Egypt’s NFSA highlights food safety in talks with French official

Egypt’s National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) head, Tarek El-Houby, outlined on Wednesday the authority’s role in ensuring food safety through inspections of exported shipments and risk analysis measures.

El-Houby discussed new procedures introduced in 2025 for issuing certificates for food exports and managing incoming shipments during a meeting with a Financial Advisor at the French Embassy in Cairo.

The discussions focused on enhancing regulatory systems, sharing expertise, and backing training programmes for human resource development. Both parties stressed the significance of promoting collaboration between Egyptian and French food authorities to ease trade and expand markets for food and agricultural products.

For his part, the French financial advisor praised the regulatory role of NFSA and its tangible efforts in promoting exports and overcoming challenges to accessing global markets for Egyptian food products.
