Egypt’s Petrojet has been awarded key contracts under the development of the Cronos natural gas field offshore Cyprus, including the construction of a 57-kilometre pipeline connecting the Zohr field facilities to the natural gas liquefaction plant in Damietta.
The company signed an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) agreement to execute the onshore pipeline, which will have a diameter of 36 inches and facilitate the transportation of Cronos gas to Egypt for processing and export to global markets.
The agreement was signed as part of a ceremony in Nicosia, where nine agreements worth approximately $1.8 billion were concluded with the participation of major international companies, including Petrojet, Baker Hughes, Dalmine, Technip, McDermott, Oceaneering, China Merchants Heavy Industry, Saipem, and Tenaris.
Separately, McDermott awarded Petrojet a contract to fabricate deepwater facilities for the Cronos field, weighing approximately 900 tons and valued at $11 million.
Two additional fabrication packages are expected to be awarded to Petrojet, bringing the total weight of works expected to be assigned to the company to approximately 3,000 tons.
Petrojet is also preparing technical and financial offers to execute the works required to connect Cypriot gas to the Zohr field facilities and the Damietta liquefaction plant.
