Egypt’s Petroleum Min participates in high-level roundtable at Gastech

Egypt’s Petroleum Minister Karim Badawy took part in a high-level roundtable at the Gastech Conference in Milan, where global officials and industry leaders discussed ways to balance energy security with decarbonisation goals, the ministry said Tuesday.

The session, themed Strengthening Energy Policies to Achieve Energy Security and Sustainability Goals, was chaired by International Energy Agency (IEA) chief Fatih Birol. It addressed the pressures of rising demand, climate change and geopolitical tensions. Participants underscored the need for policies that ensure affordable, diversified energy supplies while advancing carbon reduction targets.

They highlighted the importance of securing investment for low-carbon projects, strengthening coordination between governments and the private sector, and expanding cross-border partnerships. The talks also reviewed strategies to reinforce energy security and support sustainable economic growth, according to the ministry.
