Egypt’s PM reviews major green hydrogen, ammonia project in Gulf of Suez

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly led a ministerial meeting on Tuesday to assess a proposed green hydrogen and ammonia production project in the Gulf of Suez, as a Cabinet statement.

The project, known as the Green Fuel Alliance, is a joint effort between the Ministries of Transport and Electricity. It aims to boost domestic green ammonia production while positioning Egypt as a regional leader in green hydrogen. Officials reviewed the project’s master plan, production capacity, and alignment with global carbon reduction goals.

By capitalizing on Egypt’s abundant renewable energy resources and investment incentives, the project aims to attract foreign and domestic investors. It also seeks to supply eco-friendly fuel for ships transiting the Suez Canal and expand exports to international markets, reinforcing Egypt’s role in the global energy transition.
