Egypt’s reserve money M0 hits EGP 2.266t in March: CBE

Egypt’s reserve money (M0) recorded 2.266 trillion Egyptian pounds at the end of March 2025, slightly down from 2.352 trillion pounds in February 2025, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said on Tuesday.

M0, a key gauge of liquidity used by the CBE in its monetary policy framework, includes currency in circulation outside the central bank and banks’ local currency deposits.

The breakdown of M0 data reveals that currency in circulation outside CBE vaults reached 1.401 trillion pounds in February, up from 1.297 trillion pounds in February. Additionally, banks’ deposits in Egyptian pounds reached 864.572 billion pounds in February, compared to 1.055 trillion pounds the previous month.
