Egypt’s reserves of wheat sufficient for 5 months – cabinet

Egypt’s strategic reserves of wheat are sufficient for five months of local consumption, said the government in a statement on Sunday.

According to the statement, local wheat procurement reached 3.8 million tons by the end of this year’s harvest season.

Since the Russia-Ukraine war, Egypt has been relying on Russian exports of wheat to provide the country’s needs.
