Egypt’s SCJ Holds Urgent Meeting To Depose Prosecutor General

The Supreme Council of the Judiciary (SCJ), headed by Judge Mohamed Momtaz, is holding an urgent meeting with the heads of Judges Clubs to discuss the crisis of the prosecutor general Talaat Abdallah and how to depose him.

Judge Mohamed Essmat, Head of the Judges Club in Beni Suef, said he is heading for the council to know the latest results concern the prosecutor general, and whether he will step down or not.

Essmat has underscored that he doesn’t object on the prosecutor general himself, but he is against the way of engaging him; calling on Judge Talaat Abdallah to step down to give the SCJ the opportunity to chooses a prosecutor general according to the New Constitution.
