Egypt’s Sisi orders Armed Forces ‘to help police to secure vital facilities’

Egypt’s President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi issued a decree Sunday that the armed forces will help the police in securing vital facilities across the country after two deadly attacks on churches earlier in the day.

The presidency announced the decision in an official statement Sunday, after declaring three days of national mourning.

Two blasts at Tanta’s Mar Girgis Church and Alexandria’s St Mark’s Cathedral, where Pope Tawadros II was leading the service, killed over 40 people and injured more than 100 in the deadliest attack targeting Copts in years.
